Keeping safe in extreme heat
What to do in extreme heat
Extreme heat can cause heat exhaustion, heatstroke and sometimes even death. There are steps you can take to protect yourself and others.
When the weather heats up, please visit the Victorian Government’s Better Health Channel website and follow the tips on how to cope and stay safe in extreme heat.
Community resources in various languages are also available.
Regularly drinking water is one of the best things you can do to stay healthy when it's hot.
Residents can use the My Mizu App and Website to locate the nearest public drinking fountain. You can also add new drinking fountains to this app as you find them. Set your air conditioner at an optimal temperature (between 23 to 26 degrees) to maximise comfort and efficiency.
Find out more about other ways to increase your household energy efficiency to optimise your cooling on hot days. The Victorian Government also has Summer energy savings tips.
