About our crossing supervisors
School crossing supervisors assist children and adults to safely cross roads around schools at drop-off and pick-up times.
They play an important role in looking after the safety of community members of all ages.

Work days and hours
School crossing supervisors generally work two 45-minute shifts (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) on school days, however shift times can vary depending on the needs of the school. They work all year round and in all weather conditions.
Is it a paid role?
Yes. Permanent part time staff are paid an annual salary (so they are paid during school holidays but do not accrue annual leave) whereas casual (or relief) staff are paid for the hours they work and given a mileage allowance.
Requirements for the role
You should:
- be physically fit
- be available to work school days between 8 to 9am and 3 to 4pm
- be willing to work in all weather
- pass a police check and get/have a current ‘Working with Children’ check
- enjoy engaging with children and families
- want to make a positive contribution to the local community.
