Apply to occupy a caravan

A person will require a permit to occupy:

  • A caravan
  • Moveable dwelling
  • Or any other temporary structure or dwelling

on private land if occupied for more than 14 days withing a 28 days period.

A person may apply for a permit for the purpose of residing in the structure while they construct a dwelling on vacant land or for any other reason.

Council may issue a permit for up to 2 years.

  • Site plan outlining the proposed location which clearly shows where the caravan/moveable dwelling will be placed on the property
  • Letter of consent from property owner  *required when the applicant is not the owner of the land

 

Council will take the following into consideration with assessing your application

  • The proposed means of hygiene, sanitary facilities, garbage disposal and power availability
  • The number of people occupying the caravan/moveable dwelling
  • The location of the caravan/moveable dwelling and if it is deemed a safe location
  • Reason for the use of the occupation
  • Length of time
  • Any objections from surrounding properties
  • Any other regulation or legislative requirement *a planning permit may be required to occupy the caravan/moveable dwelling or temporary structure

Annual fee

$195.00 (GST not applicable). The application fee will not be refunded if your application is not approved.
