Clean Up Australia Day

Published: 13 February 2023

Cardinia Shire residents, businesses and schools are encouraged to sign up for this year’s Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 5 March.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Tammy Radford said Clean Up Australia day plays a vital role in addressing environmental challenges within our Shire.

“Participating in Clean Up Australia Day fosters a sense of community spirit whilst making impactful change for our environment,” Cr Radford said.

“The Clean Up Australia Day website has a range of spots throughout the shire that you can choose from, or you can register your own local park, reserve or walking track as a ‘clean up’ site.”

All Cardinia Shire residents who register a site will receive a free ‘clean-up kit’ including bags and gloves.

Council will also assist with the collection and disposal of all rubbish collected on the day.

If volunteers cannot organise a site on Clean Up Australia Day, they can organise a Clean Up for any day of the year by simply registering their ‘clean up’ site and notifying Council to have the litter collected and disposed of after their event.

Clean Up Australia Day is the nation's largest community-based environmental event and more than 20 million Australians have participated since.

More than 20 million Australians have participated in Clean Up Australia activities and events since 1990.

Schools and local businesses can sign up for Business Clean Up Day on Tuesday 28 February and Schools Clean Up Day on Friday 3 March.
