Feedback invited on draft Community Safety Framework

Published: 19 December 2023

The Cardinia Shire community is invited to provide feedback on the draft version of Cardinia Shire Council’s Community Safety Framework. Feedback is open until 28 January 2024.

The framework is intended to guide Council’s approach to community safety to create a safer shire.

Through the Liveability Plan consultation process, the community said improving safety across the shire was important. The Community Safety Framework is also a key initiative in the Council Plan, aligned with priority one: Strong Communities.

During the first round of community consultation, which took place in mid-2023, Council received feedback from a range of key internal and external stakeholders, which helped it develop the draft.

Mayor Councillor Jack Kowarzik encourages community members to give their feedback on the draft framework.

“We know Council has a role to play in community safety, and the feedback received during the first round of consultation helped shape the draft we now have. It gave us a greater understanding of how people engage with Council on safety matters, and what the community thinks we could do to help create a safer Cardinia Shire,” Mayor Kowarzik said.

Community members can view the draft Community Safety Framework and provide feedback by visiting the Creating Cardinia engagement website at www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay
