Upgrade works are now underway on Mount Lyall Road in Heath Hill.

As part of the Better Local Roads, Strategic Sealed Roads program, Council will seal 6 kilometres of Mt Lyall Road from Westernport Road to the municipal boundary.

Works will include:

  • Road pavement construction
  • Kerb and channel construction
  • Drainage works
  • Signage, and line markings

The Mt Lyall Rd upgrades are funded jointly by Council and the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure fund.

Westernport Ward Councillor Kaye Cameron said the community is looking forward to the project being delivered.

“This Strategic Sealed Roads project will deliver safety benefits for the community and long-term cost savings by reducing maintenance, in an area where road repairs and maintenance are regularly requested.”

The Strategic Sealed Roads program aims to create strategic links to the existing road network through sealing over 40 kilometres of currently unsealed road in 7 locations around the shire.

“I'm excited to see that works have started on Mt Lyall Rd, and I’d also like to ask the Westernport Ward community to be patient and obey traffic management while the works are being completed,” Cr Cameron said.

Works are expected to be completed by December 2024, conditions permitting.
