Join the Mt Shamrock Quarry Environment Review Committee
Cardinia Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from enthusiastic local residents to join the Mt Shamrock Environment Review Committee for the Holcim Mt Shamrock Quarry in Pakenham.
The Mt Shamrock Environment Review Committee was established as part of the quarry's approval process in 2006 by the Minister for Planning. The committee provides a platform for information sharing and discussion on environmental issues and environment management arising from the operation of the quarry.
Council is seeking to appoint three passionate community representatives to the Environment Review Committee eager to contribute to discussions about important environmental issues related to the quarry's operations.
Applicants wishing to join the committee should meet the following criteria:
- A genuine interest in activities at the quarry site.
- A willingness to gain an understanding of quarry operations and processes.
- The ability to contribute constructively to committee meetings.
- A commitment to represent community interests and to provide feedback to the community.
- An openness to consider the broader community's needs and look beyond personal interests.
- A collaborative spirit.
The committee roles are voluntary and unpaid. Benefits include contributing to the oversight of environmental compliance within your community and the opportunity to build strong local community connections. Selected community representatives will be required to attend quarterly meetings over a three-year term.
Interested community members can submit their expressions of interest via email, detailing their contact information and addressing the above criteria. Submissions should be addressed to Marcelle Bell, Coordinator of Planning Strategy and Urban Design at Cardinia Shire Council and sent to mail@cardinia.vic.gov.au
