Christmas Together, a heartwarming success
Cardinia Shire Council is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the 2024 Christmas Together program, which brought joy and support to our community during the festive season.
This year marked the Council's second year of supporting the Christmas Together initiative, a partnership involving The Salvation Army, Bless Collective, ADRA, and the Cardinia Foundation. This year's program was a shining testament to the spirit of giving and community togetherness.
Over the program's two-week duration, registered participants received much-needed support through food and gift hampers and financial aid, ensuring that the holiday spirit reached those who needed it most. With over 600 registrations, the program reached capacity, reflecting the significant demand for assistance within our community this year.
"Christmas Together has once again showcased the generosity of our community and the power of collaboration in making a real difference in people's lives," said Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Jack Kowarzik.
"We are proud to have been part of this initiative, providing vital resources to families and individuals during what can be a difficult time of year.
"We are grateful to everyone who contributed time, resources, and donations to make this event a success. It is through the compassion and kindness of our community that we can help those in need and spread joy during the holiday season."
Participants were able to collect their hampers from 12 December to 20 December, where smiles and gratitude filled the air, creating a sense of community that was truly heartwarming.
The success of Christmas Together was made possible by the overwhelming support from local residents, schools, community groups and business that donated toys and non-perishable food items to the program. Each donation contributed to the festive cheer and helped to create memorable Christmas experiences for many households in the shire.
