Cardinia Shire Council, in partnership with YMCA Victoria, held a skate and scoot event on Friday, 17 January, at the recently updated Garfield Skate Park.

The festivities drew a large crowd of enthusiastic riders and included lessons, music, and competitions that showcased the talent of the local community.

The Garfield Skate Park, located at Beswick St in Garfield, is a purpose-built space for skating, scooting, and BMX riding. The park was designed with input from local community members to create a fun, challenging, and safe space for everyone. The upgraded park features a variety of newly resurfaced ramps, rails, and obstacles to accommodate all skill levels, from beginners to experts. New additions include a shelter area, additional seating, and a refurbished drinking fountain to maximise community use.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Jack Kowarzik expressed his gratitude towards the community for their contributions to designing the park.

"Thank you to all the members of our community who shared their ideas to help enhance and refine the park's design." Mayor Kowarzik said.

"The Garfield Skate Park is a great addition to our community, it's a place where people of all ages can come together, have fun, and enjoy the outdoors. We hope the skatepark will continue to be a hub for the skating and biking community for years to come."

Cardinia Shire encourages all skaters and riders to wear appropriate safety gear and follow the posted rules and regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
