Pakenham Health Centre open for business
After many months of work, the Pakenham Health Centre is now open to clients.
Developed to meet the health needs in this growing area, the centre will deliver a suite of community-based health services from one central location.
Located at the former Cardinia Shire Council building in Henty Way, the Pakenham Health Centre will be operated by Monash Health and is now fully operational.
Monash Health Chief Executive Andrew Stripp said that the Pakenham Health Centre brings access to services like maternity care and pathology to a local community-based setting.
“For example, we know that is very important for women to see a clinician in the first trimester of their pregnancy. We expect that the Pakenham Health Centre will make it easier for women to access services easily in their local area, under one roof, and in a bright and modern environment,” Mr Stripp said.
“In the one centre mothers can access all their health care needs and keep a watchful eye on their unborn baby."
Services offered at the Centre will include: child and family services, maternity services, counselling, community health services, community mental health services, select outpatient specialist clinics, pathology, pharmacy and maternal and child health nurses.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Brett Owen said the centre was a great investment in the health and wellbeing of Cardinia Shire residents.
“Council is pleased that our former civic centre in Henty Way, Pakenham has been transformed into this much-needed health facility. It is an excellent use of the site, and we are proud to be partnering with Monash Health on this project.
“Having a centre in our shire that offers so many essential health services for people of all ages, and all under the one roof, will be hugely convenient and beneficial for our community members.”
This project was jointly funded by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP).
