Nominate a stand-out for the Stan Henwood award
Nominations for Cardinia Shire’s Stan Henwood award are now open.
For the first time, the nominations are open to the community to nominate those who make a valuable contribution to Cardinia Shire for the award.
The Stan Henwood award, now in its 11th year, commemorates the lifetime achievements of the late Stan Henwood, a Tynong resident who gave much to the community through his charity work, sporting and volunteer roles.
The award will also now be presented at the annual Mayor’s Volunteer Reception in May, to better align with the values of the Stan Henwood and his legacy; it was previously awarded at Council’s Community Capital Works grants night.
Mayor Cr Jodie Owen said Stan was a standout member of the community and the award continued to honour his legacy.
“There are many people in our community who also have a commitment to volunteering and devoting their time and resources to make Cardinia Shire a better place to live, work or visit,” she said.
“This award recognises Stan by acknowledging other individuals across the shire with the same commitment to their local community. We all know someone who continually goes above and beyond and the Stan Henwood Award is an opportunity to nominate and recognise that dedication.”
Community members are encouraged to submit nominations for anyone who demonstrates the characteristics and attributes of the late Stan Henwood. Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 1 April.
