Cardinia Shire’s Ageing Well Strategy 2019–25 adopted
Cardinia Shire Council has adopted its Ageing Well Strategy 2019–25.
The strategy sets Council’s priorities over the next five years to support older residents to be healthy, active, stay socially connected and participate fully in the community.
It was informed and developed through extensive consultation with older residents and the broader community along with community groups, service providers and state and federal government agencies.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Jeff Springfield said the Ageing Well Strategy builds on Council’s commitment to our growing and highly-valued ageing community.
“Our Ageing Well Strategy provides a clear roadmap for council to continue its work in fostering a community that’s accessible, that promotes health and wellbeing, and provides opportunities for senior residents to connect.
“We are proud to be an Age Friendly City, as recognised by the World Health Organisation. This means that we encourage active ageing by giving people opportunities to enjoy good health, participate in their community and feel secure and safe as they age. We do this by adapting our programs and services to ensure that they are accessible to, and inclusive of, older people with varying needs and capacities.
“We are grateful to everyone who provided feedback on the draft strategy and contributed to the development of this plan.”
