Cockatoo Tennis Club served four new LED lights!
Four new LED lights have been installed at Cockatoo Tennis Club.
The four 250 LUX LED lights have been installed on the two northern tennis courts at the club. The upgrades also included new footings.
The tennis lighting upgrades are a joint initiative in partnership with the Victorian Government and Cardinia Shire Council.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Brett Owen joined Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing yesterday afternoon to mark the completion of the project.
“These lighting upgrades enabled tennis participants to train and compete in matches at night during summer,” Cr Owen said.
“This is a great win for the local community here.”
Ranges Ward Councillor Jeff Springfield said the upgrades provided the much-needed lighting that these tennis players required for their sport.
“We are excited to see the finished project and thanks to the Victorian Government for their contribution.”
State Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said with tennis booming in the region, Cockatoo Tennis Club deserved facilities that helped even more locals hit the courts all times of the day.
“The new court lighting provides a real incentive for participants to ramp up their training, development and competition play, and also for social players to join in the fun,” she said.
“Better sport and recreation facilities make it easier for Victorians to get back to local sport and recreation when it is safe to do so and lead healthy and active lifestyles.”
The Victorian Government funded $66,000 as part of the Local Sports Infrastructure 2020-21 Fund for this project. Cardinia Shire Council contributed just over $31,000.
The Cockatoo Tennis Club is located at Alma Treloar Reserve in Cockatoo.
