Management of Cardinia Shire’s major recreation facilities
From 1 July 2016, Aligned Leisure will take over the management and operation of Cardinia Life, along with a number of Council’s other recreation and aquatic facilities.
Under this new agreement, the Cardinia Life health club will have a major upgrade with all existing equipment being replaced with state-of-the-art Precor equipment, which will be integrated with Preva technology. Preva wrist bands will replace existing membership cards and will allow members to track their fitness progress with on-console software or the mobile app. Current membership cards will continue to allow access to the facility however the cards will be replaced with Preva bands during July. Customer service staff will inform members when these bands are ready for distribution. This technology may not appeal to everyone and fitness progress will still be tracked for those members that don’t wish to use the technology.
Until the full implementation of the Preva system, members will continue to have access to the Greenedesk system. Aligned Leisure health club staff will assist members set up their Preva accounts and answer any questions regarding the new system or the new equipment.
The health club and training room will be closed from 1pm Wednesday 29 June and re-open at 12noon Sunday 3 July to allow for new equipment to be installed. During this time, the health club will also be re-painted and the flooring will also be replaced.
During the closure of the health club, the aquatic facility will remain open. Existing members, swim school participants, and their immediate family, can swim for free during this period (with presentation of their membership card).
Term three swimming lessons will start on Monday 11 July and Aligned Leisure will contact all current enrolments. The transition from the YMCA program into the Swim and Survive program is expected to be seamless, with the majority of timeslots and levels rolled-over.
Council is also pleased to confirm that Aligned Leisure have been able to retain most staff so visitors can expect to see the same friendly faces at the facility.
